Choose a workflow

The web editor uses the same content model in every supported workflow. Only the place where files are read and written changes.

• Local folder — choose a project folder in a Chromium-based browser. Best for a solo developer or a local-first site.
• GitHub — edit a repository through the GitHub Contents API. Best when the repository is the source of truth and you want direct branch workflows.
• Hosted API — use the multi-tenant API with server-side project credentials. Best for teams and managed client projects.

Start with a local folder while building a site. Move to GitHub or the hosted API when collaboration, permissions and deployment become more important.

The files, blocks and content model remain the same. You can change storage without rebuilding the site from scratch.
