A browser editor for an Astro repo
The product is the web editor. It runs in the browser and edits the same JSON Astro already uses. How to click through a normal session is on Using MagiCMS.
An older desktop app still exists in the MagiCMS source tree. It is not part of the supported product. Do not wait for it, and do not treat it as a requirement for local work — use a local folder in a Chromium browser instead.
How MagiCMS reaches the files
MagiCMS never keeps a second copy of your content. It always reads and writes project files:
- Local folder — the browser’s folder picker (Chromium).
- GitHub — the GitHub files API, with caches for speed and safe writes.
- Hosted API — MagiCMS’s own API, which checks membership and talks to GitHub with server-side credentials.
